Getting a taxi in Bristol

Bristol's hackney carriages are painted Bristol Blue, carry an illuminated roof sign and can be hailed in the street or taken from a rank, while private hire vehicles (yellow and red plates) must be pre-booked. For hackney journeys within the city boundary the council sets the fares and the meter shows the maximum that can be charged; outside the boundary you should agree the fare before setting off. Bristol Temple Meads station has a taxi rank on Station Approach, and at Bristol Airport the official taxi partner, Zoom Cars, has a taxi office on the forecourt between the Transport Interchange and the terminal.
