Taxi Stirling

Stirling may not be the largest city in Scotland, but it has plenty of hidden gems — from the castle and the Wallace Monument to Uni nights out and late-running trains. Cassels Cabs provides a reliable taxi service there, whether you’re making your way across town or up to the university, or heading out toward the Trossachs.

I’ve lived here long enough (and missed enough buses) to have tried just about every taxi company in town. Some are great, some… not so much. So here’s my straightforward guide to taxi services in Stirling —these reviews are based on actual rides, not fancy websites.

1. Stirling Taxis – The Safe Bet

They’re one of the best-known taxi services in Stirling and for good reason. They’ve got a decent fleet, some friendly drivers and a nice app to use if you aren’t so keen to make phone calls. Ideal if you are going uni, having a grans day out or just trying to make that train.

Best for:

  • Station pickups
  • Local day-to-day travel
  • University rides

2. Braehead Taxis – Honest, Friendly and Efficient

Braehead Taxis is a solid choice if you want a no-nonsense lift. They’re often quite fast, especially for in-town local trips. Prices are reasonable and the drivers are usually chilled out and friendly.

Best for:

  • Short town hops
  • Pub runs
  • Local errands

3. The Reliable Backup – Kings Park Taxis

Not the first name that always comes to mind, but Kings Park has come through for me more than once when others are fully booked. They’re personable, reliable and won’t mind travelling a bit further afield if you’re headed out towards Bridge of Allan or Causewayhead.

Best for:

  • Busy weekends
  • Slightly out-of-town trips
  • Dependable alternative

4. Uber — If You Can Get It

Yes, Uber technically operates in Stirling… but don’t rely on it being there when you really need it. Sometimes it’s nice, sometimes nobody for miles. It’s worth keeping on your phone anyway, just in case.

Best for:

  • App fans
  • Off-peak hours
  • Quick quotes and tracking

5. The Night-Time Hero – Taxi Stirling

Perfect for early airport et al, and late-night pub returns. These people are truly 24/7 and they have saved the day on more than one occasion after a night out. Just remember to call ahead when things get busy (weekends, students’ nights, etc.).

Best for:

  • Early morning airport rides
  • After-midnight trips
  • People who plan ahead

Stirling might be small, but it’s lively — particularly during term time and the tourist season. Save at least two numbers, download an app or two, and you’ll never be left standing in the rain staring at the castle (unless you want to).
